Canesten Combi Pessary & Cream is a 2-step treatment for vaginal thrush and relief of the irritation. It contains a regular vaginal pessary to clear the infection and a double strength external cream to calm the itching, burning and soreness.
Yeast and bacteria are naturally present in your vagina. Thrush occurs when the level of Candida albicans increases.
You have a weakened immune system
Pregnancy (mainly during third trimester)
When on your period
When taking certain medicines and antibiotics
If you have a medical condition like diabetes, HIV or if your under going chemotherapy
Thrush is not an STI or a serious condition and in most cases it can be treated easily and effectively. It is also normal and very common 3 in 4 women suffer from it at least once during their lifetime.
This is the first time you have had symptoms of thrush
You are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
You have had more than two episodes of vaginal thrush in the last 6 months
You or your partner has previously had a sexually transmitted disease
You have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist.
The pessary contains:
Active Ingredient: Clotrimazole 500mg.
Other ingredients: Lactose monohydrate, Microcrystalline cellulose, Lactic acid, Maize starch, Crospovidone, Calcium lactate pentahydrate, Magnesium stearate, Colloidal anhydrous silica and Hypromellose.
The 10g tube of external cream contains:
Active Ingredient: Clotrimazole 200mg (2% w/w).
Other ingredients: Benzyl alcohol, Polysorbate 60, Sorbitan stearate, Cetyl palmitate, Cetostearyl alcohol, Octyldodecanol and Purified water.
16-60 years:
ONE pessary inserted into the vagina, preferably at night.
Apply thinly TWO or THREE times daily to the affected area.
Under 16 and over 60 years: not recommended except on medical advice.
This product should only be used if thrush has been previously diagnosed by a doctor.
Irritation in area of use, for example: burning, stinging, itching, redness, rash, blistering or peeling
Pelvic or abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding after using the pessary
