Loperamide hydrochloride 2mg capsules to help stop diarrhoea.
Loperamide 2mg capsules relieve diarrhoea quickly and effectively.
The active ingredient is Loperamide. Loperamide works by slowing down your bowel and returning it to its normal rhythm. This helps to restore the absorption of fluids into your body.
Frequent diarrhoea. While most people only experience diarrhoea from time to time, some people can get it more often and persistently.
Travellers' diarrhoea. When you're abroad it's easy to get foreign bugs or food poisoning from unfamiliar food or drinks.
Infectious. There are numerous infections that can lead to diarrhoea.
Norovirus. If you catch what's sometimes called the winter vomiting bug, diarrhoea will likely be a symptom.
Not suitable for use by children under the age of 12 or IBS patients under the age of 18.
If you have AIDS and your stomach becomes swollen, stop using this product and speak to your doctor immediately
If you are breastfeeding
You are allergic to any of the ingredients this medication contains
You have severe diarrhoea after taking antibiotics
You are having a flare-up of an inflammatory bowel condition, such as ulcerative colitis
You are constipated or your stomach appears swollen (especially in children with severe dehydration)
You have acute dysentery, showing symptoms such as blood in your stools, high temperature
You are pregnant
Suffer from liver disease
Have diarrhoea that lasts for more than 48 hours or have had severe diarrhoea
Have been told by your GP that you have an intolerance to some sugars
Active ingredient: Loperamide hydrochloride. Each hard gelatin capsule contains 2mg Loperamide hydrochloride.
Other ingredients: Maize starch, lactose, povidone, sodium starch glycollate and magnesium stearate. The capsule shell contains gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxides (E172) and patent blue V (E131). The printing ink contains shellac, simeticone, titanium dioxide (E171) and propylene glycol (E1520)
For adults and children over 12: Take TWO capsules after first loose bowl movement, followed by ONE capsule after each loose bowel movement thereafter. DO NOT take more than 6 capsules in a 24 hour period
You must not take loperamide capsules for diarrhoea attacks that last longer than 48 hours
If you are an adult with IBS that has been diagnosed by your GP, you may take loperamide capsules for up to 2 weeks, however you must not exceed the stated dose
Possible side effects:
Dizziness
Drowsiness
Tiredness,
Constipation
If any of these effects persist or worsen, contact your GP promptly.
