Dulcolax Pico Liquid provides short-term relief of constipation. Take this medicine at night to relieve symtoms of constipation by the morning.
Dulcolax Pico Liquid contains an active ingredient called sodium picosulfate, which is a stimulant laxative. This product works by stimulating the muscles in your bowel, helping to move faeces through your system so you can pass it.
A lack of fibre
Not taking in enough fluids
Not exercising enough
Ignoring the urge to go to the toilet
A change in your diet
Stress, anxiety, or depression
A side effect of certain types of medication
Not suitable for use in children under the age of 12.
Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients this medicine contains.
This product does not help with weight loss and should not be used as a weight-loss aid.
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Dulcolax Pico laxative
Severe dehydration
A blockage in your intestine (ileus)
A serious abdominal condition, e.g. appendicitis
Severe abdominal pain with nausea, vomiting, and fever
A blocked bowel
Inflammation of the bowel
Water tablets, also known as diuretics, such as bendrofluazide or furosemide
Steroid medicines, such as prednisolone
Antibiotics
Each 5 ml contains 5 mg of sodium picosulfate (present as sodium picosulfate monohydrate) as the active ingredient
Other ingredients: carmellose sodium, methyl parahydroxybenzoate (E218), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E216), glycerol, tutti frutti flavour, saccharin sodium, ethanol, sodium hydroxide (for pH adjustment) and water
Adults and children over 12 years: one to two 5ml spoonfuls at night.
Children under 12 years: not to be given without medical advice.
Possible side effects:
Common (affect between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people)
Diarrhoea.
Abdominal discomfort, pain or cramps.
Uncommon (affect between 1 in 100 and 1 in 1000 people)
Feeling sick or vomiting.
Rare (affect between 1 in 1000 and 1 in 10,000 people)
Allergic reactions, such as swelling of the throat, face and tongue (angioedema) or skin reactions.
